Our journey with Petbarn started off as a rescue job - a fantastic brand with the right strategy but a poor Magento execution. Numerous customisations to core framework had stranded Petbarn on a dated version of Magento Enterprise.
Netstarter were engaged to performed a deep-level code review that identified numerous customisations to core code that were not implemented in an upgrade-safe manner. Our immediate priority was to investigate and rectify the architectural issues that were impacting performance, user experience and conversions.
With 115 wholly owned stores that double as distributions centres and a loyalty program with close to one million active clients, Petbarn is primed for a true multichannel solution. Problem areas were re-coded and and the website was upgraded to the latest version of Magento Enterprise.
Having stabilised the core functionality and upgraded the website to the latest version of Magento, we are now revisiting the user experience with a focus on personalisation. The next task is to roll out a mobile interface that caters for the 25% of users accessing the site via a smart phone or tablet.
