Interactive
A website may be deemed interactive when a function within the website prompts a response from the user or is able to interact with the user in some dynamic manner.
Internet
The internet is the currently the worlds largest global network connecting millions of computers with each other. It is through the internet that services such as email, chat room and instant messaging function as well as many software applications.
Intranet
An intranet is a private network which may be accessed exclusively by members of the private network. An intranet is commonly used in large organisations to manage day to day activity and as a means of establishing a corporate culture.
IP
IP stands for Internet Protocol which is a method used to identify individual computers on the internet. Each computer has at least one IP address which is unique.
ISP
ISP stands for Internet Service Provider and refers to a company or organisation which provides internet access.
JavaScript
JavaScript is a scripting language which when embedded in the head section of a web document can dynamically enable a web page to be interactive. While most browsers support JavaScript, some browsers are disabled for JavaScript use.
JPEG
JPEG stands for Joint Photographers Experts Group and is a lossy graphics format. JPEG files are best suited for images which contain a lot of colour such as photographs. A JPEG file utilises compression for colour images, thus resulting in some details being lost during compression. However despite this, JPEG files still manage to provide relatively good quality.
Label
A label is a short phrase or word which instantly identifies the content of a given page. For example the label “about us” proceeds to inform users that this area of the website contains content describing the owners of the organisation.
