4 Good Logo Design Tests

Good logo design can be achieved by testing 4 key areas

Easily Described

When designing a logo it’s important to test whether or not the average person can describe what the logo looks like to someone else. In this test, it’s beneficial to have the other person try and draw the logo, without ever seeing it. At the end of the test, put the logo and the drawn logo next to each other and compare the differences. If they are almost identical the good logo design test is successful.

Easily Remembered

To determine whether or not the logo is easily remembered it’s as easy as placing the logo in a group of logos and then showing the logos to someone, one after the other, in constant succession. Tell the person being tested to try and remember all the logos and then approach them the following day and ask them to describe the ones they remember. If the logo is mentioned the good logo design test is successful.

Easily Identified

Every logo needs to work, whether it has colour or not. In this test, simply remove all colour and display the logo in black and white. If the logo is still identifiable the good logo design test is successful. It is also beneficial to try this test in grayscale.

Easily Scaled

Every logo will need to be scaled either smaller or bigger at some point. In this test, the logo needs to be scaled to every conceivable size. If the logo looks just as good when it is smaller and bigger, the good logo design test is successful. This test should include the following scales 25%, 50%, 75%, 150%, 200%, 250% and 300%,
